I was part way through doing a challenge playthrough I've set myself where I get as powerful as possible before fighting the hydra in the encampment. So obviously I wanted to get a fire elemental parma off of reynard since it's p much the best non post game/main quest area shield... Turns out that you have to be in at least stage 2 of the story (after Off With its Head) for Reynard to get any of the bonus items from each part of the Search Party quest. I looked it up and can't find anything about it on the internet so it would seem that no one has really tried doing search party before stage 2, or at least they didn't tell anyone about it. So yeah, that's a thing
