The Ranger is a challenging Vocation in Dragon's Dogma. They have access to Daggers, Longbows and light-to-medium Armor and specialize in ranged and disruptive roles. This Vocation is an Advanced Vocation, meaning it only becomes available at the Gran Soren Union Inn. It's strong in ranged situations and will need party assistance with melee attacks.
Quick Ranger Vocation Guide
- Your Job
Rangers are a more burst and disruptive-focused version of the Strider. Their attacks are slower, have a lower DPS, yet have higher burst and stun capabilities, and have many more skills that create flashes, flares and disruptive explosives. They are useful for stunning mobs and leaving them open to attack, or sniping from afar with their extreme range. They are not very well suited for melee, as they don't deal much melee damage and are just above casters in fragility.
- Skill Overview
- Dagger Skills: Their melee attacks. A great many of these are focused on techniques that stun or blind enemies.
- Longbow Skills: Their ranged attacks, which allow them to snipe from extreme distances and shoot arrows with a myriad of special effects.
- Core Skills: Passive skills that improve or grant attack sequences and movement abilities.
- Augments: Passive skills that can be set regardless of current Vocation.

- Suggested Support
Rangers are too fragile to be of much use in melee; thus, a Fighter or Warrior is a great boon to this class. Healing is not often a problem as a Ranger, ideally, is never close enough to get hit in the first place.
