Character Weight is a game mechanic in Dragon's Dogma that affects the appearance and the stats of a character, with significant influence on the character's speed, stamina consumption, stamina regeneration and carrying weight. As a general guide, light characters can perform actions and recover stamina faster, but heavier characters can perform actions with less stamina consumption and carry more weight.
Character weight is affected by Character Height as well as the build or musculature selected doing character creation. Most people ignore this factor during the initial start-up, but you may re-design your character by purchasing Secret of Metamorphosis from the Rift Shop using 10,000 Rift Crystals.

Tips
Heavier classes have many benefits, including:- Can grapple and immobilize targets more effectively
- Air-bound enemies such as harpies cannot lift heavier builds
- Heavier builds can travel in Windoworn Valley easier as they are less affected by the wind
- Heavier classes gain more maximum stamina. Character will gain 20 stamina for each weight class above M.
- Heavier classes benefit more from Leg-Strength skill points as it is more effective for L and LL classes.
- Run speed is affected by encumbrance, which larger classes have an easier time with as they can carry more by default.
Lighter classes have other benefits:
- Smaller builds have a smaller hitbox, making being hit more difficult
- Smaller builds regenerate stamina faster
- Sinew skill gives a larger boost to light characters
